View Full Version : 3d modeling
Mikr2006 04-05-2007, 08:03 PM Hi guys. I'm new to this forum but not to 3d modeling. Been at it for many years but still at intermediate level. I was wondering in order to model something well in 3d, do you have to be a excellent drawer? Drawing is really not my specialty. I'm in college taking drawing as part of my major CGI course and it's the only thing I struggle with the most. I know it helps and that's why I am forced to take it but is it necessary for anything out in the CGI job world? I know they seperate the tasks into different jobs.
Thanks

No. Its not a requirement, just a secondary skill that is helpful. Drawing is a quick way of communicating, or refining ideas, or simply enhancing your observational skills.

Oh ok thanks. That's all I wanted to know. I do try to improve my drawing skills through practice sometimes but I mostly use either photographic images for references or real life objects and then study each characteristic closely to understand the elements of the form. thanks though

Drawing helps but is not a must know for 3d modeling. I think whats more important is being able to visualise in 3d.
Cheers,
Manoj
