Hello folks
What do you think of this guy?
He is a priest named Aamund, who I am going to include in a musicvideo i am making. The band is called Finntroll :buttrock: which contains of 6 "trolls". I am going to make all 6 trolls and some priests.
The first model is complete, but not textured, and I have started working on the second priest Kettil.

Max, box-modeling and shag-hair.
I'm also doing this thread at www.threedy.com
The first priest Aamund:

He looks quite fun.
How do you plan on animating that clothing?

I am going to use the flex-modifier on the robe.

Have you done any tests I could see?
I tried to do a character with a lab coat using Reactor and it was a total bitch. So do you plan to deform the robe with bones and use flex for extremities or what?
Cheers.

No I havent started animating him yet.
and yes i plan to deform the robe with bones and flex. Maybe three "legs" to control the feet-area. Flex on the folds.

This is the second priest Kettil (the one on the left :p)

What do you think?
I used the first model as a "referance" therefore, many of the characteristics are the same.

It's not a job. I just do it for fun on my spare-time.
I am not getting paid for this.
I've chatted a bit with the band and I have gotten positive comments from them (:airguitar)
I also run a thread at their forum here. (http://forum.finntroll.net)

Lookin real nice!

I liked the squishier face better. Although this depends on what style your going for.

On the newer model, i think the line from the corners of the nose to the ends of the mouth are too strong, need to be smoothed out.

Maybe a little more Lip definition?

Coming along nicely, keep it up!

Squshier face? You mean one of the two faces on the top? I am going to use both of them actually. Are they too similar?

About the lines between the nose and the mouth, are you refering to the troll or the human?
As you can see on the newest pic of the troll, the line has been smoothed, but the camera may be too far away from the face too see it.

Thanks btw:beer:

Propbably on the troll and the priest is the line too deep (the one from the corner of the nose to the mouth)

About the two priests being similar, that's easily solved with textures. But i don't think they are that similar anyways

You are probably corect with the priest's deep line, and I will get back to it when the first troll is complete.

And yeah, I think the textured verions of the priests will be even more different, tho I wish them to look related.
The only problem is that I am not good at making textures:scream:

It's been a while, but the troll is now closer to completion (duh).
Any comments?

I really like this project! I´m very fund of trolls of all sorts, especially John Bauers. Maybe you could get some inspiration of his works?

I like the models and the caracters and i think that all they need is textures!

Are they inspired by Bastusången!?

I'm also very fond of the whole troll/northern myths thingy. John Bauers work is very cool:buttrock:

As for this project, I have changed some things, or else I will never be able to finish it. I decided to make it low-poly (and more cartoony), so the models need to be optimized a bit. I have not much experience with textures, but here is a pic of a wagon and some barrels that will be in the background near the church.

A little video clip (400kb) (http://home.no/slipknut/wagon.avi)

If they are inspired by "Bastuvisan"? I am trying to describe the whole Midnattens Widunder story in the video which will be of "Segersång" (When they strike back and retrieve their homelands which the humans stole from them)

"Jag såg du rette quigrindu, losfaegnt haar og i trolls hamn, iamrift dagiir og natt" - Ancient nordish accusation (I saw you ride at dusk, in the outskirts of the village with loose hair and in the shape of a troll.) :)

Nice cart, cartoonish feeling! Maybe you could add some metal details like nails, bolts and protective strips on the wheel?

Did you know that Finntroll is on a European tour? Last gig is tomorrow in France...

h4d35: thanks, the making of the robe was pure hell. and now i will have to optimize it for low-poly:annoyed:
Kyrkovisan's cool:buttrock:

Cronium: Cool phrase. Maybe I can use it somewhere in the video
And ys I should probably make som nails and protective strips. I'll do it tomorra:thumbsup:

I didnt know the tour was finished this soon. Oh well it doesnt matter, they didnt come to Norway:annoyed:
You should join the finntroll forum at forum.finntroll.net:beer:

I was going to see Bodom at the Inferno Festival, but my friends decided not to go because it was so expensive (grrrr)
And I just got Hate Crew Deathroll:buttrock:

Cart: Later today

I will have to remake the troll and make 6 more before you will see any animation (the trolls include Katla, Wilska, Trollhorn, Somnium, Skrymer, Beast Dominator and Tundra)

h4d35: Yes, Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta fell off a bridge and died instantly when he hit the ice on sunday morning 16.3-03

jone: Yup:thumbsup:
