View Full Version : Merge Clips -- Trax Editor
Hi all!
I'm sorry for this post, I know that different people wrote about this but I didn't find any information....I have a bounch of clip into the trax editor, I need to work on them simultaneously but when I merge them maya create a keyframe for every frame (the activate key works only on a single clip)
How can I fix this problem?
Thanks,
Ilaria

Hi Ilaria,
As far as i know, thats a limitation you have using Trax.
To work with that, you need to simplify the keys on the timeline and get rid of unneccesary.
You can do that from graph editor.
Merge the clips in your trax, convert it to a ket on every frame and then you can go to your graph and clean the curves by using "Simplify Curves".
Looking for a better solution if someone know about it.
thanks alot, I have to much curves and clips to do that, maybe I'll try to copy every clip's curves in a single scene to create a unique clip...I hope to fix that as soon as possible!
bye

Oh man I've been dealing with this problem for like EVER! Well if your using Maya 8.5 or even 8 I believe there's no way to get around it. But if your using Maya 7 or later you only need to change your clips to Relative before you merger them. Once you do that it should keep all your original key's in place. Now for Maya 8.5 it doesn't seam to work the same way at all if you find out though please tell.

Yes, this used to work in pevious versions, it would keep your anim intact unless there was a blend or layered clips. nice. but now this has apparently been "fixed".
I can't work out which version it was that i used this in. I've gone back and tried it in v6-8.5 but no dice - just bakes it all out.
