View Full Version : Help Please...Blender Crashing!!
ruby000 04-05-2007, 01:10 AM Hi,
I'm new to using blender but I managed to learn quite alot from the tutorials.
I built a couple of basic designs using mesh objects (cubes) and I'm trying to export them to 3DS but blender keeps crashing!!
I dont know if anyone has come across this before but its really becoming tiresome. The weird thing is that it was working fine for a while and I was able to import and export 3DS models, but then it just started to crash! (5 mins after it was working!! :scream:)
I really need to get this to work. I hadn't changed ANYTHING on the computer or in the application.
Please...if anyone knows anything...
Thanks in advance,

It would help if you could post the culprit files. Without it or without more detailed information, troubleshooting will just be a bit of a stab in the dark...

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure which files you would like me to post exactly, but I can give a bit more info about what's happening.
I'm running blender on a Windows OS (WinXP 2002 SP2 and a Win2000 - tried 2 different PC's), using a 32bit memory addressing. FYI, blender will NEVER work on a 64 bit OS!! (tried it!) I'm also using blender 2.42a.
I'm basically trying to build a maze like 3D model (something very basic made out of cubes with a Subsurf material and a color). I then have to export the model I create to a 3DS file.
I tried that with a couple of the maze models and they all worked perfectly fine. I then try with another one and blender kept crashing, giving me a memory addressing error. I downloaded blender 2.43 and it did the same thing there for that specific maze, for a couple of times, and then, it miraculously decided to work! Only it gave me a 3+Mb file that didnt have a model in it! I tried to re-import the 3DS file and it was empty! (and I did have all the models selected in blender when I exported to 3DS so it should have the model in the file).
This really isn't a very big issue since I re-did the maze, but it's honestly starting to get really frustrating and I would like to know why this happens. Any info?
