View Full Version : Muzzle Flash Animation Preset
Arrrgh4life 04-05-2007, 12:02 AM I decided to make an animation preset for making muzzle flashes in After Effects 7. Simply create a white layer, draw the shape of the flash with the pen tool, then apply the animation preset to the layer. I will hopefully update it this week sometime, and add some handy features. Here:
Muzzle Flash Preset v.0.0.1 - www.youknow4kids.com/Crap/MuzzleFlash.ffx (http://www.videocopilot.net/products.html)
Installation:
Save the file to your disk, and drag it into your After Effects preset folder
eg: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 7.0\Support Files\Presets
A special thanks to Andrew Kramer from Video Copilot. He shows this great effect setup for creating Muzzle Flashes in his DVD, Serious FX and Compositing. Please visit his site - http://www.videocopilot.net/products.html
EDIT: Yes, I asked him permision before I put this up.

first of all: Andrew probably worked very hard on that DVD, and because of that i don't think it's fair to share any content on the DVD with others... people will eventually stop buying his DVD, and i don't think it's right. and i know how hard it is to do a video tutorial on anything, since i'm making my owns. (www.maltaannon.com (http://www.maltaannon.com/))
besides this is pretty simple effect, and if you wanted to share this with others, you could just give some guidelines on how to do it... besides... if one is clever enough one could figure it out by himself just by watching Andrwes DVD Promo.
second of all: for those how are intrested with this subject. i have a tutorial comming up on automated and very advanced muzzle flash - and it will also be available on my DVD probably... or maybe not... i've not decided yet.
anyway... i'd like to aks all of you guys, who own Andrews DVD, or whatever paid for training dvd not to share this knowlage... for me its just stealing... don't you agree?
but i must say that i'm happy that you at least gave a link to Andrews site, and that you didn't ask for credit for yourself like some people already did on this forum.

Ha, Chill man. Sorry for not explaining totally, I did email him to ask if it would be alright to share, I waited for a response before I put it here. He told me that it would be ok for me to share this, as long as I provided a link to his site and gave credit. And I thank him very much for letting me share it. He is a nice guy, he always gets back to me about questions.
