These are the rules:

You have 40 MN for your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
They can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them).
Good Luck

Some more questions:

Is this 40 mins or 55?

Is the topic "Last Stand" or "Green Eyes" again?

And finally, can we get an answer to Mercuralis' question about 1013-1021?

Poor Roberto, having to put up with us...

lol. So true...I had to do something similar once (I was a judge for an online competition). And I just couldn't deal. Too much to juggle work school and judging. Hey the next sketch topic should be dedicated to you, Roberto!

EDIT: Do you mind if I post that tonight at midnight?

Everyone has trouble at first getting used to tablets. I used to sketch out my drawings on paper, bring them into PS and color it in a new layer to get used to my tablet. After a while I was okay with just using PS. There are also other solutions if you just can't get away from paper.

A way to make lineart in PS is to draw your drawing on a piece of paper, (this works better if you ink it and erase the pencil marks), then scan it and open it in PS. Follow these instructions:

1| Go to the Channels window
2| Hold down Ctrl and click RGB
3| Return to the Layers window and create a new layer
4| At the top of the screen click Select, then Inverse (or hold Shift+Ctrl+I)
5| Choose the paintbucket and whichever color you desire.
6| Click anywhere on the drawing and then deselect
7| Finally, delete your hand-drawing layer so that there is only a white background

Tada! It won't look much different from your hand drawing, but you can now color the picture on a lower layer. Sorry if the instructions are complicated, I'm not much of a tutorial writer!

Here ya go, my first daily sketch entry. 20mins, Painter X, Conte crayons.

I'm not sure what this guys story is but, er... he's standing and it's the middle of the night so I guess it's the last bit of standing he's likely to do today. Does that count....?

Burpy, I think I was going for something like your entry. Love the colour scheme.

Wexter. LMAO. Love the vaguely camp stockings boot combo juxtaposed with the obviously evil little character. Product of a twisted mind if you ask me. Ace!

Well I just started scribbling with the ink tool, and ended up with this. The 'last stand' of trees in the swamps (or whatever your interpretation is)

~40 min / GIMP / tablet

Ok, here's my view of the topic - I did went over the limit a lot, though - 20 minutes or so  Gues i gotta practice speed..
\Painted in Photoshop CS using an old basic Wacom Volito\

The animal pictured is supposed to be a monk seal - only three types of them are known, one of them being totally extinct, one crtitically endangered and one endangered.
Although those still living are only Meditarranean and Hawaiian, when i think seal, i think ice :) I wasn't going for realism anyway... Hope you get my idea - sadly that's the only thing I can be proud about with this picture :)

Danielh - great style... dark yet the fighter looks full of energy

gulkan - like the idea *thumbs up*

Its been a while since Ive had time to do one of these. Everyone has been doing some really awesome work.

First I sketched it and the brought it into illustrator to do the reference, all the coloring was done in photoshop. The first picture only took me 30 minutes, all together it took me about 2hr to complete it.
