Hi,

I'm trying to figure out an inexpensive way to turn a crowd shot into a logo. I saw a commercial where the camera pans around a group of people then goes overhead and zooms out, showing more and more people which thicken and form the logo. I would like to do something similar, but the only things I see that make crowds are expensive programs like Massive. The only other way to shoot this is to use a jib move, but how do you keep zooming out and making more people?

To me this seems like a complex composite shot.

I use Cinema 4D 10, Adobe After Effects 7, Photoshop and Illustrator. I also have Trapcode particular which I know can do crowds with particles, but I'm having a tough time figuring out how to make a camera move go overhead - any 2D people that I use become flat.

Anyone have any ideas for a technique on this?

Thanks much!!

I was thinking about this today after reading it this morning.

Im not sure how I would start the scene- but I was thinking about the end part with the camera moving out.

Why not for the people who are at a distance once the camera has pulled away far enough- build some really simple bodies that are just heads + torso + arms and toss a very simple rig into them. From a far away top down perspective I'd imagine that would look pretty convincing. Im not sure how to do this through particles though.

As for the ground and stuff- I think google earth or google maps is what you need to borrow from. Building the inital close up geometry and blended the further out you go with less and less detail intill its just the google maps picture/ mash up.
