View Full Version : GI, Caustics, FG... spots?!?!

I am adding a mini-major entrance here in the corner of this food court.

Here is the basic food court model. I have been playing with GI on this one, trying to get the glass doors to glow, as if sunlight where coming through. Obviously, it isnt working. This mental ray render has GI, caustics, and Final Gather.

So why isn't the glass glowing and what the heck are all those spots!?!?!? Looks like disco party USA in there!!

a) a screenshot would be very helpful - or a rendered image

b) what shader do u use for glas?

there is a rendered sample in my original post... :shrug:

I am using a dielectric material for glass.

try this if you cant see the image above.

i tried amping up two of the lights. photon count to 100,000. same restult.

then i got the warning
API 0.0 warn 302018: type conflict: "color" is type color, "maya_color_to_vector" returns type vector
API 0.0 warn 302018: type conflict: "color" is type color, "maya_color_to_vector" returns type vector
RCGI 0.3 warn 362004: no photons stored after emitting 10000 photons from light "spotLightShape5" (tag 58e)
RCGI 0.6 warn 362004: no photons stored after emitting 10000 photons from light "spotLightShape4" (tag 579)

so i upped the photon count of the other two spot lights (4 and 5). i'll let ya know what happens.

anyone know what the first part of that warning means? the part about type conflict: "color" is type color, "maya_color_to_vector" returns type vector?
