not sure about tutorials just commenting on the model I am not good yet with modeling and could not do this but this may help. It looks really off for a samurai. If you are going for realistic anyway here is a good reference picture

Samurai's are normally much larger (not as skinny as yours) I think even you are going for cartoonish he should be a little wider.

thanks for you input man. i was going for a slightly stylised character; even still I dont think he needs to be wider: even the picture you posted isnt very broad. Where i could definitely add more detail is by adding more armour. Unfortunately I dont have time to do all the extra modelling, texturing & rigging for this project.

Nice. Do you plan to anymore to the feet or is oing to be texture mapped?
