So, this started out in the speed painting thread, but I realllly want to develop this now!

This is the original 40 minute sketch. I usually work this way laying down values and figuring out the light source etc. Colorize was done at the last second to lend it a forest color. :)

I have a sneaking suspicion the perspective is slightly askew, so I will go back and lay down some lines to give me a better idea of this vantage point.

EDIT: OK, this is why you lay down some grids before you draw.
I can keep going and detailing, but I think set up some two-perspective without realizing it. ubern00b! ;) Help plz :love:

looks like the perpsective problem is in the stairs, i think this fixes it..( i just rotated them)

Ahhh, that does "level" a few things. I think what's going on also, is the vanishing point is on the left, while the focal point is on the right. Interesting. Thanks for the rotation stuh. School starts tomorrow, can I finish this painting in 8 hours? *whoosh*

Here's another small update.

I've made some corrections to the stairs, the background values, and tweaked the arrangement and value of the figures for a hopefully more solid composition.

Let me know what you think of it so far. If anybody knows anything about 2 point perspective...halp! :D

Just a quick crit from me: Either those stairs are huge, or those guys are hobbits. Good luck finishing it on time! :)
