hey Guyyzzz....
I'm trying to render a picture under max5
=> widht 9000 height 8000 but max give me an error message :
"error creating bitmap" and don't even want to start the rendering...
it starts rendering if I lower the widht to 7500 !!!!
My picture should be of 15000*xxxx !!!!!!! and I can't go further than 7500 ?!? arggg...
does anybody knows what could the problem be ?!?
is it a max limit ?!?
for info I have a Pentium 4 2,4 with 1Go of ram

Render in various passes with BLOWUP mode and join them in photoshop.

I had this problem with a resolution as low as 2500 pixels (on a computer with 1 gb ram). Really annoying, but the only workaround is rendering blowups like said before.
But maybe the question is, do you really need such a big image? 4000x3000 is big enough for any billboard resolution image.

MAX5 (4 had it too apparently) has fixed this problem!!!! found this out when I rendered an image at 9000x9000. (did it in one pass, and didn't have to resort to rendering regions)

could it be that you don't have enough free space on c:/ ??
when max renders without an output path, it renders a tempfile to your c:/ disc, might be worth checking that . . .
no it's for print... 6*5 meters...
and I have 6free Go on my c: it really seems to be a limit that's why they have this option in the rendering menu
it seems it's going to work with Taozim help...

This is often the problem. I had the same problem once only to find that I had this mysterious file on my c:/ that was well over a gig. I think it stores it in your /autobak/ dir. I forget, but its usually the offender.
It may also be a limit of the format you are using. I think its TGAs (or something else) has a limit around 7k. Try using a BMP or sommin else.

somtimes i find if i send the render as a network render, even to the same machine, it can solve this problem.

Networkrender -> rendering to stripes solved the prob for me once, and it is less affort than the thing with the blowup.

I agree with the free hard drive space. I noticed that when I was rendering it was placing these huge files, over 6 gigs for one large file. I have no idea why they would be so large, but I was having the same problem using max7.5
We ended up doing the blowup method for our 12k render. It's not very precise though. I used the exact same region, just moving it, and some areas were too small/too large and had to be scaled. Figure something else out if you can. Although, I don't know if anyone would notice a couple pixels being out of place in a render that large.
Also look into the print wizard built into max that many people aren't aware of. That worked for us once for a huge render.
