IMHO - this top ten is a bit suspect (South Park ahead of Spirited Away??!!)

Maybe that's because people outside animation circles have actually heard of South Park, unlike Spirited Away with it's limited stealth release in the US. Fingers crossed for an Oscar for SA :) Maybe then Pathe will show it in cinemas over here...

hmmmm... top ten lists are always an endless discussion. But IMO, South Park and Spirited Away should not be there!!. The rest of the list looks ok, but we could be talking about that for ages... Toy Story could be number one, tough.
The entire list shows the top 100... according to that list, south park is better than Princess Mononoke... :insane:
I'm a big Miyazaki /Studio Ghibli fan, to see South Park ahead of Spirited Away undermines the value of this list - So I geuss this list is about popularity and familiarity, the members most likely voted for films they know, or have seen recently or have a vague idea of. (Though I'm perhaps taking the OFCS a bit too seriously).

I can't see it being released in the UK, even if it does win the Oscar, mind you I can't see that happening either - Disney need an injection of publicity and kudos (after the bomb of Treasure Planet and other recent productions) to keep themselves afloat. The Academy is hardly going to vote for an obscure Japanese film when it's homegrown products need a boost (I know I am going to regret saying that). Lilo & Stitch was a decent film though...
I hope come Oscar night I am wrong - I really want to be wrong this time
BTW if you want to get hold of the Spirited Away R2 DVD, PM me for details I know of a very reliable UK dealer who has them in stock (as of now)

I agree, I'm surprised SA got in there at all ( I geuss someone on the board must have taken their kids to see it );)
