View Full Version : Can't re-render clips with sound

I have downloaded a few video clips (wmv or avi) they have sound implemented (music and special effects); they are game play captured from the television.

I created a comp on AAF, with more than 100 clips (the best of all). Now… When I rendered, it did with NO SOND, actually the sound became some kind of distorted noise with beeps, something like: Crkkkkkkkk Tuuu crkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

After doing some research I discovered about the 0 key (ram preview with sound) and the Ctrl key to hear it out. Once I tested those, I noticed it is not a problem with the render queue/rendering the comp, but… when I am Importing my videos, they are getting their sounds corrupted.

What can I do, to manage to import these clips with their sound working? All I can hear on the Ram Preview or Ctrl+Move is noise… drastic noises…

I have downloaded the MPEG Layer-3 codec, because the clips I downloaded are compressed that way with a Divix video compression. But the problem continues in the same way…

Please help!

New info: I dissected the clips and now I can confirm: This only happens to imported AVI’s, all the WMV clips are ram previewing perfectly and rendering perfectly!

After Effects is horrible with sound that has already been compressed, especially mp3s. My advice, if you want to use that original sound with the video, is to pull the sound out of the video using some audio program (there are many free online if you don't have one), and re-render the audio out as an uncompressed WAV file. then in AE, turn off the audio on the video file, import your new WAV, and line them up.

Your idea will solve the problem for small compositons (mine has 100 video clips... imagine doing that one by one :P).

Based on your solution, I had one idea, I decided to convert my avi clips to wmv, and then I opened my scene and right-clicked on top of the avi clip from my lybrary and selected "replace file", I replaced the avi with the converted wmv one... since they are both of the same lenght it worked!

After replacing it all... I did some tests, and everything is smooth!

If there is someone out there with the same problem, the software I used to convert avi to wmv without any quality loss was: Xilisoft Video Converter.

Thanks for the help!
