Im trying to make a cartoon eye setup a la Daniel martines lara of pepeland.com (im copying the setup from an older model called Ciceto, its in the downloads area).

The eyeballs themselves doesnt really move in this setup, but the iris and pupils does. They move by a look-at-constraint.
Theyre also contained in a space warp which constrain them to the shape of the eyeballs. (since theyre not perfectly round)

The thing is: I get this thing to work nicely until i move the biped unto which the eyes are linked. The eyeballs move along as they should, but the pupils deform in a rather unsettling way.
And needless to say they do NOT follow the rest of the rig.

Ive been beating my head to the computerscreen for some hours now, but i dont get it. How did he do it?

i was hoping someone would know.

Make a sphere, with pupil and whatnot you want in there. Do not deform anything at this stage.

Constrain the eye with a look-at controller.

Make an FFD spacewarp box and deform the entire eye as you want it.

Link the eye and the FFD spacewarp box to the biped head.

This ought to work. It sounds like thats what you're doing though so maybe I'm rehashing things you're already familiar with. Idunno.. give us a screenshot of what's going on if you're having odd problems still, 'toon eyes aren't all that complicated to set up so you ought to be able to get this fixed somehow.

Yeah thats what im doing.
Although the eyeball will move with the head, the pupil wont.

I dont get it. Cause i dont want the eyeball to rotate only the pupil. and if i link the pupil to the head the look at constraint doesnt seem to work.

urghh :(

Im gonna try to do it all over from the start and see if i somehow can get it to work. any other ideas would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is helpfull, but this tut was the first thing I thought of when i read your thread:eye rigging tutorial (http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/3ddocs/eyerigging/)

Thanks!!!

That was a good one, but not what i was looking for this time.

i have actually overcome the problem i think. It seems that i had to build everything from scratch and link the pupil to the eyeball before i used the spacewarp to deform.

Dont ask why but it seems it worked. i think.
Although the pupils still deform kinda strange, but thats more of a tweaking thing i guess.
