Is this the religious fruit thing?

--edit--

Just read Juggernauts signature - so I guess it is!

It's a great disc, and some of the extra stuff is hysterical. The digital dailies with Larry, Bob and Khalil had me on the floor. The fact that Big Idea's office is in an old Woolworth's in a mall (complete with non-working escalator) was pretty nutty. Animating one moment, buying candy by the pound the next.

Amazing how much emotion they are able to get out of limbless vegetables. Awesome job Big Idea!

I saw it and was pleased and disturbed.

Fruit dont enter heaven or hell, thats for people.

They are already dead when we usauly eat them, right?

If you think about it, fruits are like sexual organs for plants.

But vegatables are a different story.

Then there are the Religitables.

Didn't somebody maybe MadTV or SNL do a spoof on this? I'm proud to say that the work I did on "The Anna Nicole Smith Show" as an opener has been spoofed by MadTV ;-)

it was done by that tv funhouse guy.

Are there any other clips on the net besides the trailer that actually show something funny? I saw the trailer and it didnt interest me at all. I can't bring myself to buy a DVD featuring elongated talking objects merely on word of mouth :)

Well there is this new amazing thing called "renting." You can "rent" the DVD and see everything on it without having to spend the money to buy it. :p

Uh.. I don't think you are going to miss anything but if you are into christian childrens's programming you should check it out.

And you are of course assuming that Blockbuster is right around the corner from my house, AND you are assuming I have the time, AND you are assuming that I'm not lazy :bounce:

Like I said I don't think you are missing anything especially if it's that big of deal for you to see it..in the meantime get some vegitables and listen to religious tv show and dance them around in front of you and you'll have your own veggietales ;-) Just kidding .. it's good harmless fun for the kiddies but I don't think it hits the same range of levels that anything by PIXAR creates and is not really for adults IMO.

Haha, well there's always Netflix.

Personally I'm always happy to support a company that does quality animation. Yeah, the whole religious bent may put some people off, but I don't let that get in the way of enjoying it.

Oh okay, thanks for the info. I guess my first hunch was right, and since I have no kids I guess I'll skip this one. :hmm:

We were singing "Oh Manatee" for weeks after we saw the presentations they gave at siggraph/awgua back a few years ago. Damn song would just pop into your head and you would hit yourself when you realized that you were singing it out loud.

You know...its a shame that so many people are unwilling to support anything that stands for God and faith. I am no religious "fanatic", but I am a faithful person, and I believe what Big Idea is doing with Veggie Tales is a very noble move. While no other company seems willing to touch religious programming, they are not willing to do anything but. I'll be buying the DVD tomorrow.:bounce:

One of the big things I like about Jonah is that since the characters are limbless they really have to nail the facial expressions and body language to convey their emotions, and boy do they! I think it's worth a watch on that alone.

I saw Johna with my kids. They are 5 and 8 and really liked it. We are not religious and I have enjoyed Veggie tale videos for there cleverness, but the movie falls short of there usual work. The animation style they use works well for short videos, but not a full movie. They changed the colour palatte part way through wich threw the ending off.

If your kids like Veggie Talse, the will probably like Johna. Otherwise, I'd give it a miss.

Cheers, Graham
