I just got the following email with download links:

"
Right Hemisphere is pleased to announce an upgrade to the current version of
Deep Paint 3D & Deep UV.

Feature Enhancements
Updated support for Adobe Photoshop CS1 and CS2, & the latest versions of Max,
Maya, and Lightwave via Importers and Exporters.

Known Limitations
No Longer Supports Photoshop Filters

Future Development
Regarding product futures, we recognize that the 3D Painting and UV Mapping
technology represents significant value not only to the workflow and creative
processes of our DCC Customers, but also to our post-CAD Manufacturing Customers
using Deep Exploration. As a result, we will continue to integrate more of the
UV Mapping capabilities directly into Deep Exploration Standard and CAD Edition,
and continue to develop innovative 3D Paint technology as part of our Product
Graphics Management Platform.
"

Today is a Good Day!

It's what was before Bodypaint. The system of painting on a 3d object with Deeppaint 3d is preferable to some :)

Here's the product page: http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dp3d/Deep3D_UV/index.html

It's old school stuff but very very logical. Lots of people use it.

I guess he thinks it's awesome that they're continuing its development. (previously they said they would not update it anymore, if I remember correctly)

Sweetness :) that was unexpected and very welcome. I thought they totally abandoned it.

basically an update to make sure that the old version still communicates with the new software out there. nothing new in terms of capabilities or workflow etc.

Good that they've belatedly released the communication plugin, it's a shame that nothing much else is being done with it though.

I was always impressed how quick Deep UV is at unwrapping non-organic forms and packing the UVs, last time I looked it hammered Max's unwrapper into the ground, speedwise on complex objects.

My favourite "known issue":

No updates for XSI

Sounds familiar to me, not only for this software... :(

Sorry but after using Body Paint and Zbrush, I'll never go back to Deep Paint. Body Paint can do anything Deep Paint can and more IMO.

kinda weird timing now that adobe has announced the cs3-ext package.

maybe they are attempting to renew interest in the product now that adobe has used their marketing acumen to bring 3d texturing out as a major feature?
