Greetings,
Maya 7 Looking for info on how to get a photon map to work again.
In Render Globals i unchecked REBUILD PHOTON MAP and when i checked it on again i received this error
Warning: no photons stored after emiting 10000 photons (which i set the value at 10000)
so i know it's reading from the light i created.

How do i RE-activate the default map?

I have also tried to make my own map: c:/photonMap
but nothing gets written to the file.

the "photonMap.pmap" is there, but no info is written to it!?

There is no default photon map, whats happening is its trying to catch 10000 photons, what happens is it sends out infinite photons until 10000 are caught, whats happening is that they fly off to infinity and never get caught, what you need to do is make an object that surrounds the scene to catch the photons, or even just create an IBL node which will automatically catch the photons that fly off to infinity.

The photon maps are different for every scene and are calculated on render time according to the lights that emit photons in the scene, a default file wouldnt work becase how would it know where the lights are coming from.
