I just found this place, and I HAD to register just to ask..
Has anyone else tried making the Master Chief from Halo 2?

I'm working on my final animation project before I graduate this God forsaken University.. (Can you believe they don't provide funding for machines? And we only have 5 that work!)

Anyway, I am making a teaser short, an in it, I'm mixing Halo2, some Metroid Prime, and Ghostbusters at the end. It looks pretty cool so far, I even got to the point of making a laser sight with a spot light.. I hate it when poeple use cylinders with glow for lasers. Just doesn't look right ^_^

Anyway, This is my first post, and I'm quite glad I found this place.

I couldn't resist it, and even at this late, I went back, and made the bumpmap needed and now, the 100% finished Master Chief. See the arms, like the rest, its all bumpy ^_^

yeah it seams ok ! don't you have any bigger renders ? and wireframes ones, could be cool ;) It will allow us to see how your character was built on :)

Looking good! Seems detailed enough, but it would help to see a more well-lit version too (and the wireframe of course)

Here's a newer render with the gun. The skeleton is in place and all weights painted. Works like a charm. Sometime in the next few weeks, I'll have renders of him inside different environments, and I'll finally ge to see the helmet reflection going on.
Is this enough light ?

Sorry for the small images but the 20k limits isn't helping much.
I gotta find a better way to compress these.

if you link the pictures to your own host you can post bigger pics than 20k.

get a free host like netfirms or lycos.co.uk or or or....

one day i wanna model the chief....just without adding bump mapping to it...all modeled...then maybe have him getting shot by...ren and stimpy or something..who knows..:)

Well, everything has to be done and delivered on April 21. So yeah, there will be animation.
Its my Thesis final. ^_^

Quick preview render for lighting and camera.. Not final wall texture (will match the trailer better)
Lights look cool so far. He won't be holding the rifle here. On the second shot, where he's supposed to pick up a rifle, there are proton packs on the rack instead.. Then onto the last scene ^_^

But I did send them the first render on this topic but never received any replies :hmm:

I'm just a big Halo fan, I'd love to be able to answer yes but, I am still trying to graduate. I might get a chance at ILM after graduation. But I wouldn't mind Bungie at all.. No Sire!:D

Wouldn't it be cool, since Halo2 got pushed back till 2004, I could actually be part of it before its finished.
Have my name in the credits as the get coffee/dounut guy.. That would ROCK :buttrock:

Looks great! but isn't his vizor a little big?

It looks a little on the Broad side but next to that it looks good

Look around at more official renders.. Its that big, its almost a full face visor.

Here's the Elite with some bumpmaps..
Also, these are lowpolys, and I'm trying for a "real-time" look instead of a "final Fantasy" look.
That and to save on render time ^_^

GOOD WORK, I liked it so much te model, but, you don't think that it has a little lack of oxidize?. I recommend you to use "painter7" to get the oxidize you would need.

Its a new suit.. and the alloy used doesn't oxidize. Might get battle damage, but the battle hasn't started yet :thumbsup:
