View Full Version : soft selection for Maya 4.5?
mebamonster 03-07-2003, 06:27 AM Hello everyone! I am currently trying to set up blend shapes for a poly model so that I can create facial animation in Maya. I am a 3D Studio Max user and am trying to adjust to the switch to Maya. I am addicted to the use of soft selection in 3dsMax for this purpose and am desperately trying to find a way to do the same in Maya. I am aware that there are clusters and wire deformers and such..but what I am really looking for is a way to simply grab any vertice that I want and control a falloff of influence from it.
If any of you know of a free solution to my problem, I would be very very grateful.

watch the tweak thread, in the meantime you might use clay dough's script ...have a look on highend3d. magnets.
The claydough scripts are meant to be like a softselect :)

You might also want to look at Maya's built-in Proportional Modification Tool. See your local help files for details.

Theres also a new free plugin by imre tuske called xySoftpeak, imho cooler than MAXs Softselektion.
should be available at highend3d.com, but somehow doesnt work on all machines :annoyed:
