View Full Version : winxpsp1 constantly writing to hd after 3dsmax start

hey guys... we have a problem here

i just installed winxp + service pack 1 and 3dsmax on my machine

now whenever i start 3dsmax, xp is accessing the hard disk in intervals of 1-2 seconds for some reason...cpu usage is like 80% when it does that, and it doesn't stop when i quit 3dsmax... only after a reboot

i checked the task manager, whenever it does that the 'system' and 'winlogon.exe' process are very active and use the said 80% of cpu time

ANY ideas? i really don't know what the hell this is, have any of you guys experienced a similar thing with sp1, because before everything worked fine - but i still want to isolate the problem before i re-install AGAIN

i have never heard of this issue. but i will keep my eye out and bump this thread until you get your problem solved, if that is ok.

you really should use the support.discreet.com forum, because this is a very know issue with norton antivirus.
it can be solved by

-) deactivating NAV realtime protection

-) updating c-dilla

yeah thanks for the tip

i already sorted out that problem... but turning off virus protection is not really an option

i guess i'll have to go back to NAV 2002 which i used before
