Hi all,

I have had 10 for some time now and just this morning I downloaded the update. Everything is great except I have never been able to get the help to work .... I mouse over a tool holding Command and F! (I am obviously on a Mac) when I do all I get is an error message.
No help available for PLUGIN_CMD_5134/--

This is making me a bit crazy ... anyone have a clue as to what may be wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,

David

There is a revised 10.1 update for the Help system which you will need to download. (100MB)

Read the instructions first and install the library by:
Help > Install Language > ENGLISH_HELP_10.008_20061016_121549.lang4d
Shutdown and re-launch C4D.

That should make it available by Command+F1 when you are over an interface or tool item.
Alternatively, it should open via Help > Help and open at the front page.

If you are over a third party tool or plug-in then no help is available.

Works OK on my Mac.

Hi Rantin Al,

I did all of the above. Downloaded the 10.1 help file, installed it from within C4D. restarted program. No dice whatever I do.

Probably i need to speak with support. :banghead:

Thanks for your response!

Cheers,

David

Hi David,

Check your main Cinema folder > Help > ...
There should be two folders, one marked files, the other marked US.
The US folder should have the HTML, Icons and Pics folders.

Another thing to check is in the Preferences > Help > Local Help Path.
I think(?) this is user specific to the User Home folder if you have multiple accounts on your Mac. I have nothing in the path field. Try clearing it if there is anything already there.

Is there still nothing when you try Help > Help from the main menu?
Last ditch is to try removing the *CINEMA 4D.prf* file from the prefs folder and try a restart.

Cheers, Alan.

Rantin Al ..... you are the man! Clearing the path in the preferences did the trick.

Thanks so much!

David
