Is there a way to see how long a render takes when I do it via Batch Render with Mental Ray?

Are you looking for a total time to render, a single frame render time, or an estimate on how long till it's finished?

total time rendered and single frame rendered. :D

I've never tried to see if the built in batch can display this info but I know almost every batch render program displays it (such as smedge or the free netrender from highend3d)

The wallclock shows it

If rendering from command line turn on verbosity -v 5
You will probably need to pipe the output into a file to be able to read it later

eg: render -r mr -s 1 - e 10 -v 5 test.mb >> log.txt

If rendering from within Maya turn on logging (i think its in translation) in the mental ray options and then look in the
mayarenderlog.txt in my documents/Maya

or just look at the timestamp on the rendered file :-D

You might even get time with a verbosity level of 4, or with as it is called, the Info messages level. 5 is the Progress messages level.
