Hi Folks,

Well i'm trying to make my own wee dude here, this is s first for me so i thought i would make a WIP thread to show the progress.

Here is the concept

and here is the current state i am in

Far from perfect but i'm happy with it. All being well when i'm complete i would like to texture and animate him. I'm thinking of a rought fabric for his skin, like a potato sack type of thing but i dunno, so any ideas would be great.

C&C is welcome as always although there migth not be much to go on so far :)

Great concept! The model seems cool so far, but give us more to help you better ;)

the stitches, they look a bit too slack to hold the bits of him together as tight as he is... did that make any sense? :D
otherwise it's a COOL model. :)
rock on, and give us more.

Yeah i agree...the stitches are too slack. Plus there shouldnt be so much of a gap between the pieces...they should be held tighter together.

Thanks for the feedback so far,

I knwo there isn't much to go on but i do agree with what has been said about the stiches and the gap, i'll tighten everything up and then take it from there.

Does any one have any links to tutorials on fabric textures? i would like to do a few tests just to see what the results are like.

as i mentioned earlier i'm thinking of a pretty rough fabric like an old potato/flour bag or something along those lines

Thanks

Hi there old buddy ..

Looks like a fun model to work on.... Looking forward to seeing it completed and I also agree that the stiches are a bit slack...

Here is a few website's that has some textures for fabric... There is a cotton one that may come in useful for you on the first one and the second has the hessian or Burlap that I think you were thinking about using.......

Hi Folks,

Here is an update of the head so far. I'm pretty happy with the look but as always C&C are welcome.

This is my first personal character so i'm running into a few probs, realy stupid things but if anyone can tell me how i could add the patch to the face without having gaps and also keeping it curved with the face then that would be great. Hope that makes sense.

Anyway here is the pic.

Thanks for any feedback and tips

Just a quick update, changed the nose to like a small bit of the face pulled out and tied on (there is a bit of string there honest)

also just messing about with a colour test not the final textures by any means

C&C welcome

hey hey i thought this thread had gone the way of the dodo :)

thanks for the compliment on the Avatar, glad you like it. Feel free to try and model it if you want :) you might finish it (unlike me)

i have put it on hold for the moment, decided to learn the softwarea bit more so i'm working my way through some books and then i might have another go at this little fella.

thanks again though :)

CHange back to the original nose! I like the concept. Completion on this will come with the texture maps. Is that what you are taking a break to learn?

I really agree with HenningK. The first nose is great, keep to it.
