Title: Koenigsegg CCX
Name: Eric Schulist
Country: USA
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop
This is my first work submitted to CG Society and am really quite proud of it. I base modeled the car in polygons, converted the pieces to sub-divisional surfaces for detailing then back to polygons for rendering in Mental Ray. Photoshop for texturing some of the smaller pieces as well as minor compositing.
I'd greatly appreciate any comments or critique. Please point out anything that looks wrong or needs work. Also any idea of how to improve my composite or background.

Wonderful modelling there!
I like the materials, although in the last render there is a weird reflection on the bonnet. I think just about every uses that hdri probe btw, not to be too critical but from an employers perspective that may cause them to bring out the "SEEN IT BEFORE" stamp. So perhaps smooth it over in photoshop or something. No biggie.
THE DOORS! Unless they open upwards, they sure are going to be tricky opening with the hinge cracking and everthing.
I am working on my first car right now and it's a lot harder than I first thought!
So I applaud your efforts and award you 4 stars! Horray!

Yea the HDRI reflection seemed to great in the red version and I did end up blurring it in Photoshop using a surface blur I think. That way I was able to keep the crisp line from the sky on the top but get rid of the building details. I used this for the orange version of my car but forgot to go back and redo my other two.
The doors on the car are really cool. They go out perpendicular to the body of the car until they clear and then rotate 90 degrees upward.
Yea this is my first car too. Youre probably pretty far into the modeling process already but the thing that helped me the most was taking the time to make a reference spline cage of the car. Then using this build the rough polygons to match the lines and curves already laid out. Good luck on yours.
I think it looks okay, but you need to work with the accuracy of the car, the proportions of the car doesn't seem right. Renderwise I think you'll need to make the scene less bright to make the chrome material look better. Besides that your modelling looks clean and you have a good carpaint material!
