Hello :)

I've done a scene with the destruction of the asfalt because of a explosion under the road.
It is completly done in Houdini, and Fusion for the composition.
The dust is created with sprites using procedural textures.

Hope you like it.

Very nice work. Could you post a breakdown video if you have one or some breakdown photos. Just wondering how many passes you used and how much cleanup and lighting you had to do in post.

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like it :)

The shot took me around 2 weeks working slowly.

It is rendered in two passes, 1st for the dust and the 2nd for the road, debris and sand.
The road uses camera projection and procedural shaders in the borders.
The lightning is very simple, just two lights and deep shadows.

Here is a preview of the simulation: http://www.miguelperezsenent.com/Media/Tests/Avenue/preview1.avi

And here a preview of the particle dust layers: http://www.miguelperezsenent.com/Media/Tests/Avenue/particleFlipb.avi

The composition in fusion is just a few color and gamma corrections, merge the elements, grain and sharpen.

"It is completly done in Houdini, and Fusion for the composition."

...no reactor in houdini... :) Houdini kicks the crap out of reactor. :)

Thanks again.

The chunks effect is a rigid body simulation. I use Houdini, but I think you could do something similar with reactor in Max.

When you start with Houdini you can't stop using it :)

Yes, the effect is inspired in that scene from War of the worlds.

I only use Houdini. I started with max, but now I use Houdini since more than a year and I think is much better to me.

Cuando quieras hablamos. ¿A que te dedicas tu?

Is there any chance of getting the script posted? I have just started teaching myself a bit of houdini after coming from max particles and Reactor and houdini looks the shiznit!

Double Supercool, there are a lot of great houdini files with examples that you can use to learn. I think you couldn't learn with my scene, it isn't very organized.

a que me dedico? ahora a nada, terminé la escuela ya y no sé que hacer...
y tu?

Yo sigo en la escuela, aun tengo 15.
