I am trying to create a trampoline simulation using 3ds max 5.1 and Reactor. I am not attempting to simulate bounce but rather the reaction of the trampoline (soft body) surface with the jumper (DM Collection). The jumper already has keyframed animation. The trampoline's edge vertices are attached to a rigid body via the Reactor Attach to RigidBody modifier so the edges stay put and the deformation occurs in the center where the jumper makes contact. The scene contains 1 rigid body collection (the pad ring the trampoline edge is attached to), 1 soft body collection (trampoline surface), and 1 Deformed Mesh Collection (The jumper figure). The Soft Body trampoline surface has settings of: Mass 1 (default), stiffness 0.5, damping 0.7 and friction 0.8.
The result is the trampoline wading up like a huge piece of Kleenex and disapearing from the scene. The AttachToRB modifier does not hold and the "wading up" has nothing to do with contact from the jumper.
What gives? I have followed the Reactor Reference and Tutorials for my settings and have tried things such as including the jumper model in the RigidBody Collection, using the SoftBody FFD, as well as changing property settings. Same basic result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
