The 3dTutorial training is excellent. It shows how to do many of the more advanced effects that you would want to do. The digital tutors tutorial set is much more basic, but does compliment the 3dtutorial set by giving you a good overview of how everything works in the particle system.

I highly recomend turning on the tabbed view setting in the prefs, so that you don't get all the options loading into a single page.
