View Full Version : I need yooz guys help with this pic badly

Right now I am at age 15 and my mom works at an art college (MASSart) and so she talked to people at the college in the art department and she's sweet talked them into allowing me to have a chance in the digital art department. All I have to do is have a nice portfolio to so I could succeed in some art classes. So right now I am puttin a lot of effort in building a really nice one.

Now that that is over with, I need you guys to help me with a color choice on this picture and how I should do light effects, it'd be a real nice help.

It wold help if you could give us some idea of what you want to do with this... As it stands it's kind of cool now. The heavy black lines and the blended bright background colors are stylized but perfectly fine for that style. Did you want to do something else with it?

I'm not sure about this, but I'd try and add some "floating" highlights on the guy's face... taking as light source the red and green spots on the left (but not necessary making the reflects green or red)... I dunno, it's just an idea... it could either look nice or turn out a complete mess xD

I'm sorry I was so vague with what I wanted, just any critiques would be good, I need all the help I can get now. I hope this update will give you an idea of where I am going with this piece:

My first thought is you need more of the red/blue/purple colors in his skin, both in the highlights and the shadows, since your backgound lighting is mainly those colors. Right now it looks like there is a bright white light on him and it seems odd... I'd change the cigarette tip to red as well, the orange clashes somehow with the rest of the color scheme.
