Hi-
I am having a few issues with OSX and Maya3.5

1- Connect Poly Shape. Is there are good version out there? I was assisted by someone a while ago who sent me a link...but the link is dead now.

2- Is there an alternative if there is no CPS? I know that CPS was working on OSX because I have used it...but in case I can not find it, are there other alternatives? I have MJpolytools, but it does not have the mirroring and smoothing toggles that CPS had.

3-When I installed Jaguar, Maya suddenly had big problems redrawing. The 3d windows are fine, but all interface objects do not redraw unless I actually move the Maya app off-screen and back on. (I am on a Titanium with 1gig ram and a 32M ATI Rage...which is great otherwise :hmm: )

Thanks!

The ati rage is a really crappy card for 3d(it is really old too). If your limited on money go buy a used gforce2/3 for a mac off ebay. Otherwise update to a Gf4Ti(not gf4mx). If you installed 10.2.3 there was some kind of problem with the ati drivers and maya(opengl problem). 10.2.4 is supposed to fix it. Thing is maya 3.5 isnt even qualified to run on 10.2. It was a really crappy release, lots of refresh problems and it is extremely pokey. I strongly suggest you upgrade to maya 4.5.

Also check out the qualified hardware page for maya:

Maya 3.5 is known to have redraw issues on Mac OSX. All versions! Maya 3.5.1 fixed these issues. Remember that Maya in general can be very picky about what version of operating system you are running. When AW says its "qualified to run" its for a reason.

Connect to Poly for Mac Maya maybe available at highend3D.com. Julian Love is the guy who "fixed" it for the Mac Maya version. Might be easier to look under his name.

Carry on...

womanonfire - that is all PC stuff, and I am on a mac (laptop)

beaker - I am on a Titanum, and I think that all of the cards you mentioned are for the desktops no? I have geforce4's in all of my PCs.

I will look into the osx upgrades.

sirrender - i went and contacted him directly...there was nothing on HE3D

wish me luck!?

Woops, my bad, missed the little titanium line. Best bet is to upgrade to maya 4.5. The first release on any platform is always buggy and experimental. Maya 1.0+2.0 on windows were 5x as buggy as the sgi version. There were like 5-6 bug updates to maya 2.0 and it still didn't fix all the problems.
