Hi,

I've searched the forum around but found nothing on this matter so, I'm asking here.
What is best to use on a character tris or quads?

Quads, especially on facial animation. You should have edge loops all over your model to get a nice skinning & animation. It's way easier to skin a clean mesh and get good skinning behaviors. It's also pretty handy to fake muscles. Try some google search about "edge loop", there are many examples.

However, modeling for game is something different (because triangle strips are faster to compute for today's GPU), so I remember seing people animating triangle mesh for older game (may be a different process those days with new-gen game graphics).

quads definately, you can hide tris in corner that dont deform too much - also tri's cause rendering artifacts in normal map generation.
