View Full Version : Max prob with Meshsmooth cages.

Hi guys !

I got a little display problem with Max4.
When working on model at the EditMesh level, with a meshsmooth active (you see the mesh "high res" and the cage of the "low res" poly), I can't hide the vertices of the smoothed model.
I'm working with a lot of disturbing vertices !

Does anyone have a solution or a trick to hide these disturbing vertices.

Ps: It used to work fine on Max the third.

yes.. this is actually quite annoying.. I miss 3.1 in that sense.

I only know how to make them smaller.. or turn them into crosses.
costumize/prefrences/viewports/viewport prefrences..

and..small dots.. ,O)

I have never experienced this problem, other than when I have accessed vert SO level in meshsmooth and edited something before going down the stack to Editable mesh/ poly (the verts stay visible to highlight a high-level edit)

Try deleting the meshsmooth and reapplying it.

Yeh - this bugged the hell out of me... but from what I can tell it's been all fixed in the 4.2 update...?

Sometimes it crops up again, but I find if you deselect vertex SO and the go back into it, it dissapears

Thanks guys.

I've try every tip, but the problem remains...
I'm working with the 4.2
I've not edited any vert at the meshsmooth level.
The only way I've found to hide these verts is to convert my mesh to Editable poly.

Try this, it works for me :) :

- edit mesh
- meshsmooth
- edit mesh

The last one is useless and you can erase it when your model is finished.

that works.. yes.. no more obscure dotties anymore!!!! =O)



crazy that we have to do tricks like these to circumvent to software..

what have they been smoking at discreet?

I' ve another solution : Edit Mesh + Mesh Select + Meshsmooth.

I think Max is not yet finished :D
