View Full Version : My first tries at modelling: 1 head, 2 cartoony, 1 bmw z3

Alright, so my highschool got lightwave earlier this year, and ive been working with it as much as i could (often afterschool), and here are the models and stuff ive managed to come up with.

I know its all really amateur, but hey, gotta start somewhere.

Ok, the one i put by far the most work into, my try at modeling and texturing a head. Im still trying to get saslite hair guides to work for the hair.

Heres a model of a car i attempted to make, put in poster form. The texture is merely a photo of the car. A lot of work left to do, but im kind of tired of it. I know its very.......amateur. Oh and this is its poster form for a school assignment.

Thanks for your time, and considering the incredible level of skill i saw with just a quick glance at some of hte pics here, i realize my odds of getting more then one or 2 (if that) replies are slim =)

nice work... i like the monkey guy... his face looks like the head you made hehe (is it just me?)

Thanks =) And nah i re-did the head or the much more simplified monkey, but i dunno i kinda messed it up and made it look too huiman. If you watch the vid, you will see his old face which everyone told me was scary/evil, so i made it to the version in the .jpg.

The human character has an interesting, non generic, form that we too often see, his ears obviously need lots more work as does the skin texture which looks too uniform in its blotchiness across his entire body, the eyebrows just look like a smooth gradient at the moment. Its hard to tell from the angle but the rest of the character looks well formed and he has an interesting face. Nice job on this one.

The BMW as you said still needs things done to it, material an roughness on the tyres would improve it a lot as would a little more work on the back seats, however you are putting yourself down a bit there I think the general form the vehicle looks great its convincing, instantly recognisable and well lit. Perhaps a couple of more hours on this would make you look at it in a different way.

The cartoon characters look very nice, the penguin is my favourite and has a great 3D south park feel to him, where the monkey also looks good and would be interesting in a more active pose.

Great job keep it up.
