View Full Version : Solid White Background Not Showing Upon Export

I am currently rendering a series of models for a modeling reel. I have rendered out the passes in TGA like I have always done in the past, I load up the comp and import the TGA's into AE, then set up a solid, and make it white all the way through. In the AE window the white is as bright as can be. Then when I export the file, whether I use the default codec, the NTSC one, or the Sorenson 3, all of the files come out playing with the back ground of an off white, almost grey.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Gamma shifts and broadcast safe colors. Many CoDecs such as Sorenson 3 will limit the dynamic range of your colors (since they are based on YUV/YIC color space algorithms as used in broadcast). There's little you can do about it otehr than using different tools to compress your stuff and checking color profile usage in AE. If you're on a Mac, check your system color profiles. Quicktime on Mac is aware of ColorSync and will figure it in which in turn may shift colors slightly and change the Gamma.

Thank you for your response. I just noticed something after reading your post. I am on a dual monitor display. When I drag the quicktime player across from one screen to the other I notice it is perfectly white in the middle of both of the screens. But when in the center of either of the screens its off white.

What could this be?
