hi, i downloaded the "dotxsi4maya1.2beta" yesterday, and i tried to install it, i followed the instrution all the way but i found that there is no "makefile.mak" in the "dotxsi4maya4.0tolink" folder, so i used the one from "dotxsi4maya4.5tolink" instead, and up to the part of using the command prompt, i encountered another problem, after i typed in the command, it said :

link: fatal error lnk1181: connot open inpt file "foundation.lib"
namke: fatal error u1077:'link.exe' : return code 'ox49d"

any of u knows what the problem is?? and any of u installed that plug-in successfully??

you have to compile it or try to find a compiled version, because of legal issues they can't offer a compiled vesion.

There are links to complied versions on my web site. Under Plugins>XSI>DotXSI for Maya.

i downloaded the complied file and successfully installed it, however, when i tried to import XSI stuff, Maya crashed, my Maya is version 4.0, and i was trying to import a XSI sence with no animation!

actually i'm just trying to build models with xsi and animate it with maya, cos i think maya has a better animation system, i tried to export models as .obj, so i can import them at maya, but i just couldn't get it work, i couldn't save a model as an .obj, and ppl are really unfarmiliar with xsi in my company, so i just gave up! ~_~ any of u guys has good idea how i can do it??

:bounce:

sorry don't want to debate about software here but if you think if anything in maya is better than in XSI then animation is the last thing you could ever mention. :)

nevermind. I'm not sure about if there is a problem with Maya 4.0. Could be that it is only for Maya 4.5?

oh, sorry, i'm not saying xsi is no good, cos i learned and have to use both of them, but i like maya better just becos i have played with it for longer time, and i get used to it! ~_^

There are version for both 4.0 and 4.5. Perhaps you've got the wrong one installed? If you are still having problems, send a mail to: converters@softimage.com

They will want to know when something does not work.
