hi, i downloaded the "dotxsi4maya1.2beta" yesterday, and i tried to install it, i followed the instrution all the way but i found that there is no "makefile.mak" in the "dotxsi4maya4.0tolink" folder, so i used the one from "dotxsi4maya4.5tolink" instead, and up to the part of using the command prompt, i encountered another problem, after i typed in the command, it said :

link: fatal error lnk1181: connot open inpt file "foundation.lib"
namke: fatal error u1077:'link.exe' : return code 'ox49d"

any of u knows what the problem is?? and any of u installed that plug-in successfully??

you have to find a compiled version. softimage releases it, but it's not compiled for legal reasons i believe...

pm me, i have version 1.1 compiled if you want it..

i downloaded the complied file and successfully installed it, however, when i tried to import XSI stuff, Maya crashed, my Maya is version 4.0, and i was trying to import a XSI sence with no animation!

actually i'm just trying to build models with xsi and animate it with maya, cos i think maya has a better animation system, i tried to export models as .obj, so i can import them at maya, but i just couldn't get it work, i couldn't save a model as an .obj, and ppl are really unfarmiliar with xsi in my company, so i just gave up! ~_~ any of u guys has good idea how i can do it??

export as a .xsi format and import into maya as .xsi format. that's what the dotxsi exporter was made for =)
