View Full Version : has Anyone Made Use of The Sound Objects ?
paulselhi 03-22-2007, 01:33 AM They have been with C4D for some time now, found in objects- sound..microphone, speakers etc
Though these have been around for ages i never see anyone discussing them on forums. has anyone made any use of them ? If so can you point me towards some example renders ?

I use the loudspeaker object all the time to sync animation to narration.
I've messed around with the microphone years ago, but don't really have use for it.

back in xl 6 I played around with them a fair bit on my 5.1 surround computer system. honestly have never invested in a good audio card and speaker system for a computer system since so its a little wasted on me anyways, but also never had need to do a project with that kind of sound either.

I don't think anyone who wants a quality sound mix would use the 3D audio in C4D - it's one of those clever ideas with no real world professional application. The tool pros use for sound design are so much more advanced for detailed tweaking than those in C4D.
It is comparible to compositing greenscreen video footage with 3D. It is possible to put your keyed footage on a plane in your scene and just render, but you have nothing like the flexibility you get if you composite in AE (or whatever), to colour correct, blur, tweak edges and keying.
I think it can be extemely useful for previs. I had a sculpture project were different sounds emminate from different objects...1 sound per object...using speakers and mics I can simulate the experience of traveling through the installed sculpture even befor I actually execute it. Also will be good to hand in with the photo documentation of my sculpture so that the viewer can see the "full" piece and not just a photo. I guess a camcorder would be good to but I don't have access to that kind of stuff.

Using the Way back machine, I recall an animation tut by 3Dkiwi
using mics and compositing sound fx / robot >>> music >>> flushing
:) As I recall, it was pretty good

It sounds like a neat idea, but in reality you could count the number of people who use it on one hand. The problem with surround sound, is that anyone who genuinely needs it will have seperate audio engineers, and frankly theyre not going to be learning c4d.
You dont even need it for syncing animation to music, audio tracks can be attached to any object in the timeline
