ok here we go

tree is 1 mesh, instanced small branch is a mesh, the pivot of the brach is a Not renderable cube. The branch is a Instanced geometry of a pArray. But look, they all face the same direction.

How can i make that the pivot faces the polys of the tree so they are spreak like in real life?

here is an exemple of my problem, look at the branches!

Not sure cuz I don't have max running, but I remember in Scatter they have an option to make things perpendicular to the surface... I'm guessing that there will be some similar function or a option to allow you to rotate them...

Hope Max R5 will have a new more controlable particle system...

yep - Try scatter instead of PArray... you can align instanced objects at a ditubution nodes (you trunk) faces/verts or evenly along the surface.

Can't see your pic so I'm not 100% sure of what your scene looks like, but hopefully this will be more what you are after.

i tried that before, i don't think scatter works on meshes like a tree, didn't work here!

here is my new image a combination of manualy added braches with leaves and leaves only pArray
