View Full Version : Tech notes?
pixel_streamer 03-21-2007, 09:54 AM Generally, are the tech notes on Painter (color talk, weaving, mosaics, and scripts) available for viewing anymore?
If so, can someone point me specifically to the painter tech note that details with weaves and weaving?
I came across an obscure reference in the help file that alludes to the weave acting as a texture (the helpfile snip is below), but I don't know ANYTHING about weaving.
"Corel Painter can display a weave as two-dimensional or show the interwoven threads three-dimensionally, complete with shadows."
Thanks

This is one location, I just checked and it's still active. I don't think Corel has added anything new since version 6, but I'm not certain about that.

Thanks for the link. I didn't think to look there. That was exactly what I was looking for.
I did notice that I can't invoke ColorTalk in Painter 9.5, unless I'm doing something wrong with the keyboard shortcuts.
What about anyone else?
Thanks,

Hi,
The following list includes a lot of extra things we can download from the Corel FTP server. I didn't include patches/Updates but you'll find them on the Corel FTP server if and when you need them. Go to the main Painter directory and you'll see folders for most Painter versions:

About Color Talk in Painter IX.5 and Painter X:
In Painter IX.5 and Painter X Color Talk has no default keyboard shortcut assigned as the earlier version keyboard shortcut, N key, is assigned to the new Eraser tool.
Since I'm in the habit of avoiding the N key (never use Color Talk), in Customize Keys Preferences, I assigned the earlier version keyboard shortcut, N key, to Color Talk. That automatically removed that keyboard shortcut, N key, from the Eraser tool.
Since I seldom use the Eraser tool, it was no big loss to me, but just in case I ever wanted to use it on a repeat basis (as when I wrote the New Tutorial for the January 2007 Painter IX newsletter, The Painter Canvas) I assigned Shift+E to the Eraser tool. Shift+E makes more sense to me than the N key for the Eraser tool.
