nathan 3d 03-05-2003, 05:22 PM Hey, I was board in class the last few days and started working on a blood cell scene. My firts render was crap, the blood cells were almost flat, but after a few crits I got something I am fairly prowd of. Here it the final image:

The focus blur makes a huge difference. It looks good for what it is. And looks like realistic blood cells so in that regards. Nice work :) :applause:
I am curious why choose to go greyscale for blood cells render. You going to do some Overlay pass's for color?
looks nice tho. Good surfacing and use of shaders.

thanks for the reply, I will work on it some more with all of the crits I have been getting and all of the help. I choose to do it in red because even after 2 hours I could not get a red material that looked right. The walls were the toughest part to get right. The material was silver on top. And it I placed more lights, then the blood cells started looking funny. B&W looks the overal best.

dunno, think i prefer the earlier one. what app you using for the focus, seems to be mucking up a bit on your last pic, but looks cool on the second one. nice shot. keep it greyscale, kinda looks more realistic in a way.

In the first one I did it manualy in photoshop. And in the second one, I had it blur as a render affect in 3d max 5. I'll blur in photoshop again after our break.

Not much of a difference.

That last one was clearly the best! Good work... Just an idea, try to make one with colors instead of greyscale... That would look good too I bet.
