I'm a former Max user and i was wonder if there is a modifier similiar to Bend where you can select a section of a model and apply it to bend the model in a angle or direction like the modifier stack bend in Max?

Also:

Is there any way to create a primitive like a circle and extrude it along a path so that it gets capped and makes a solid object? I want to make wires and pipes and do them at bent and odd angles, it seems easiest to extrude a circle along a path to get the look i want but the ends are opened when it's done...

thanks for any help.

you should start by reading the maya manuals and the learning maya books..
they help you with all those questions the best way..

cheers

You can try deform>non linear> bend.
Or use nurbs, spline and surface>extrude.
