Title: Redeemer
Name: Bernard Beneteau
Country: Canada
Software: 3ds max, BodyPaint, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

I always had a fascination for this character, from McFarlane's Spawn series.

I decided to model him and make an illustration with it.

I made a few changes to the original design, some things I believed would make him look more epic and even more massive; important factors in the Spawn universe.

A lot of back and forth between applications was necessary to create this model.

Base mesh, with cleaned topology, in 3ds Max. Detailed in ZBrush. Textures painted in both Photoshop and Bodypaint 3D. Rendered with Mental Ray.

All comments/ critiques are very welcomed.

maybe your illustration didn't show much of the detail of the character....but once i saw the front, back and side view of it...i was amazed by the muscle form...great job on the modeling.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

hokin: you are right, the illustration doesn't sell much the muscle detail of the character. Probably the angle, combined with the cape and the blasting light on the chest. Maybe I went a bit over-dramatic on this type of lighting, hehe. I will see if I can tone that down a bit. My shadows might be too strong as well.

Bif: as you said on your own thread, it would be cool if people that didn't like the image could share their point of view with us as well.

I just started a new 3D character, I'll post it as soon as it's done!

thanks again!
