View Full Version : What is your preferred UV tool/program?

I was wondering what other people use for unwrapping and laying out UVs. I currently use only Maya 7 to do all of my UV work but I am looking to see if there are faster ways to accomplish unwraps or packing. How do you feel other programs compare?

I read about a tool that was shown at GDC that finds the optimal packing (layout) organization for your UV shells; if anyone knows more about this or things like it, I would like to hear more. I am skeptical about it though, since "optimal layout" really depends on the modeling/texturing situation. Maya's Layout UVs seems to put bounding boxes around the shells, so I do mine manually, Tetris Style.
