View Full Version : very low poly Marauder
Wintermute 03-05-2003, 10:55 AM Here's my 2nd attempt at a game model, the first was the Warhawk (in the wip section)...which I may finish later on... :surprised
anyway..on to the Marauder!! my target polycount was 1000, this one has 997 triangles!
Marauder side (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/side.html)
Marauder front (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/front.html)
The texture is still very much a work in progress, currently a single 1024x1024 map. This will be scaled down to 512x512 when I'm done. :wip:
C&C please!

Are you sure it is technically exact? I mean, did you use some bluebrints? Because it looks a bit misballanced... I think a Mech like this would instantly fall on its back...

The model and structure of it looks good. :)

Kyrstman-The mech looks exactly like that as a model... I painted many of em.... I always wondered why they would build a mech that looked that awkward...
Great job man.... cant wait to see the final...

Thanks for the replies everybody!
My references are fairly limited, battletech technical readouts 3025 and 3050, and a game miniature.
I've gotten some texturing work done, still a lot to do by any means. :wip:
Updates Here (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/update1.html)
(rendered in LW, medium AA, single 512x512 map)
walk and run cycles to follow texturing (I hope)

Here's a small update on the Marauder textures..the lower legs are almost finished, the camo pattern needs some adjustments.
Image updates here. (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/update2.html)
Still a lot to do :wip:
Rollin, that is a very nice marauder model!

.. this is NOT my model.. as you can see it has "very" much polys.. i have lost the url from the site i have it from.. so i canīt say who made it ..
my model has a LOT less polys but i wonīt post it in a thread of another artist.. :) this sucks
about the texture: i think there is still a lot to do before i can say if it is good or not.. but it seems like a good starting

Here's a little update on the marauder texturing progress.
Marauder iso-views (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/update3a.html)
Marauder closeup (http://host.deluxnetwork.com/~wintermute/marauder/update3.html)
I still need to get to the waist, feet, and autocannon...and of course, add in some dirt, grime, and some wear-and-tear.

great model. I luve Mechwarrior game, even used to be in a Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries clan a while ago.
Anyways, great model, but I think textures need more metalic feel. Add some highlights at corners, scratches, burns, paint peels etc.
