View Full Version : Volumetric light question?
neods 03-05-2003, 10:05 AM Hi.. Is it possible to set "contrast" to a volumetric light? Because usually volumetric light are real smooth but with contrast you would be able to get sharper "edges"?
Thanks

Try the bias setting... though I'm tossing that one out from memory, so I might be wrong.

How about the contrast setting in post effects? might work
mike.
maybe use limit radius. that can create a real sharp edge

1) In the light section there is a Contrast setting.
2) the other area you will want to play with is in the Visibility section
Both the Falloff & Edge Falloff sections.
Hope that helps.

apart from falloff you will also want to play with teh brightness setting for the visibility of the light (as well as amybe the brightness of the overall light, you do know you can bring it up over 100%?).

I take it you want a volumetric spotlight with sharper edges right?
Well, in the Details page of the light settings there's an Outer angle field where angular width of the spot is set. The inner angle field is by default 0 degrees and tells the light when to start drop on in light intensity towards zero at the outer angle. Set Inner angle to the same value as the outer angle and you get a sharp volumetric spot. Under the Visibility page you should set brightness to 100% and dust also to 100%.
Hope this helps.
