View Full Version : My first self portrait
GrafGraver 03-05-2003, 09:37 AM Hello everyone,
I just started with a wacom tablet, and after some time now I managed to make some sort of a selfportrait. The only thing I'm not really satisfied about are the black lines, but on the other hand it has something nice I guess. What do you guys think?

Well you can see the biggest problem yourself which is the lines, especially the chin and the right ear. I would chose what sort of style your going for, if you want sketchy cross hatch style then continue the theme or if it is a smooth cartoon style. I think your going for the cartoony style so you need to redo the rough lines. I like the hair by the way and the t-shirt, needs work but you knew that already. Keep at it, lets see what you can do :wip:

Any ideas on how to make the lines blend in with the picture? Or any other tips?

yes you dont want to actually use lines atall apart for the hair maybe, unless your going for a cartoony style, what I think you should do is show the dark areas by using a darker version of the skin colour. This is a bit hard to explain but if you look inthe mirror your face is not made up of black lines, you have allsorts of different tones but close to your overall skin colour. If you would like an example I could do that, maybe on your picture just to show you.
