It looks pretty good though unfortunately, the trailer and site are only in Japanese but both have some nice imagery. It's from the producer of Appleseed (in the director's chair this time), Fumihiko Sori.

The official site is HERE (http://www.vexille.jp/index2.html) and the trailer is in there. No direct link as it's Flash. There are also a few images available from the 'story' button.

The synopsis:
The Story: "The year is 2077 - 10 years has passed since Japan had decided to leave the United Nations to go into isolation. They have completely blocked the islands with an ultra magnetic field which prevents anyone to see what is going inside, nor for people to travel in/out of the country. This was a result to opposing to a treaty which UN has passed, preventing the development of all bio and robot technology which has evolved drastically and has become a threat to the human beings. When Japan finally begins to move, the US government sends in a special force team SWORD, lead by a female commander Vexille, to find out what is really happening inside the closed country".

Cool premise, If it doesn't look like Appleseed I may actually enjoy it.

Trailer showed us nothing. Interesting to say the least.

Friggin hate Japanese web design. If the story section wasn't a bunch of slowly scrolling flash, I'd translate it for you.

Anyone know who worked on this?

I was hoping you would turn up and be able to tell us but I'm guessing (given the Appleseed connection), Digital Frontier will have played a part.

Translating the credits (all names are last name first; pronunciation may vary... pronunciation is as close as I could get it).

Director: Sori Fumihiko
Screenplay: Handa Haruko, Sori Fumihiko
Music: Paul Oakenfold (!)
Executive in Charge of Production (I think): Kasahara Yoshihiro
Executive Producer: Mei Kazuya
Producers: Nakazawa Toshiaki, Yoshihara Yumiko, Takase Ichiro
Studio: OXYBOT
Production: OXYBOT, Eibex* Entertainment, CCRE, Shouchiku**, TBS, Shogakukan, Shogakukan Productions
Distribution: Shouchiku**

* English spelling may not be correct; could be Eibekkusu or something
** May be pronounced Matsutake

From this, looks like the main production studio is OXYBOT, which is a studio started up by the director, Sori (who, interestingly enough, was an animator at Digital Domain on Titanic, it looks like). The studio's so new it doesn't even really have a webpage (http://www.oxybot.com/) up. All the other studios listed are likely financiers. Not much is known about this movie so far -- even the voice cast, or the characters (most of whom are speculated to be female). I don't think it's based on any existing anime/manga. I think details are set to be unveiled this weekend at an Anime Festival thing in Tokyo.
