Hi, I've been working on my first serious attempt at modelling a polygon head and I need some advice before I move on.

as you can see in the side view I have a few n-sided polygons that I know I can get rid of, I'm just not sure how to terminate the loops cleanly.

I also have a few triangles around the eyes, can anyone recommend a method of modelling the area around the eyes simply but effectively?

Finally, if anyone can spot any fundamental proportion errors, I'd appreciate it :) These things tend to get blurred after staring at the screen for 3, 4... 20 hours at a time

Oh, I'm trying to capture the likeness of this man:

First advice :

Put somes render with "sub-D / mesh-smooth / Geometry approx" on your model.

You've got the right idea, it looks like-- you're just coming up on the same sticky spots that we all do.

For help on the mesh, be sure and check out the Topology Research sticky thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38469) in the modeling section, there's a TON of good info there. Check that for several different methods of dealing with the forehead/brow area that's giving you those n-gon problems.

As for the triangles next to the eye-- don't run the edges into each other there, make individual loops around the eye, and everything will be taken care of.

Also, for future reference, don't worry about making the model semitransparent, it makes it kinda hard to see what's going on with it.

Keep going!
