Howto render region ???

on the toolbar at the top, far right hand side there is a render layout containing options such as - view, selected, region, etc.. . . .set to region, hit shft+q (or whatever u hit to render).. . . .a selection box will come up in the viewport, resize to your needs, hit enter

edit: just to clarify, i'm not talking about the 'render' layout at the VERY top of your screen- the one you want will be next to the material library and render buttons
