View Full Version : regathering problem (with max 5's radiosity)
Arnage 03-04-2003, 06:16 PM I'm experimenting max's radiosity solution but i'm having some problems with the regathering function. When i turn it on some objects get really wierd black lines on them (see atttached image) and after rendering the radiosity menu says "Solution is invalid at current timeframe" although i haven't changed any parameters after calculating the solution. Am i doing something wrong or is it a bug in max? (i hope it's just me being stupid, that would make solving it a lot easier :p)
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

After reading the "Max's radiosity and bumpmap problem" tread i tried removing the bumpmap, but it didn't change a thing, i also tried a raytrace material and i attached those results here, but as you can see the problem only gets worse. Doesn't anyone have an idea what could be going wrong?

hehe, thanks :P
I found out what the problem was though, it turned out that when using different subdivision ittirations for viewport and rendering it screws up the radiosity so DON'T use them both. quite annoying though because lower ittirations for the viewport can be very useful to keep a decent framerate...
