Title: Interior Design
Name: Jor Dha
Country: Belgium
Software: 3ds max, mental ray

Hi,

A good friend convinced me to finaly post this, This is one of the renders I did last year for my final project in Interior Design. Designed, modelled, textured by me. Rendered in mentalray. There is also a presentation/animation on my website (see portfolio ... on the site look for a play button, need to make the thing more clear).
The design concept is a store for the bike clothing brand Dainese. So I designed a shape trough the store that referenced a racing track (because that’s there image).
All comments will be seriously appreciated.

Thanks to Dominque Cockx for the encouragement, comments and help.
Thanks to Mathi for the advice.

Hey Jor Dha, really like the layout of the shop - I enjoy the interconnectedness of it. My only criticism is that it appears slightly sterile for a place which I associcate with alot of movement and vitality. I believe a splash of textural colour and a hint of a hue in the lights could really warm this image - making it more appealing. Anyway, keep up the good work!

it appears slightly sterile for a place which I associate with alot of movement and vitality i agree. your picture need more light sources. spotlights on the roof, light tubes near the floor under the bankets (it's an exemple). And your interior needs more color. Maybe a colored wall, or a different tone of gray, don't know.
I think you can add more stuff too.

Hey Jor Dha,

looks very nice your rendering. and i like the design of the presentation-tables!
fyi: these tables were build up in the o2-stores in germany (its a mobile-provider).
its a pity that this idea isnt new. nevertheless, it looks fine

nice day

Hi,

Thanks for the responses … they’re very helpful,

Floriacoe: I didn’t have a clew, but thanks for the info. I’ll differently look it up. Any way when I started the design I thought I had a new concept with the flowing line. But a few weeks later I opened up a book on store design and found 3 similar things. It’s not easy anymore to com up with something new.

SweD, byakushov: You’re right, it is sterile. I wanted to ad more colour trough pictures of racing motor legends but my mentor was a minimalist and they pretty much hate colour.

And I modelled all the lights and put IESers in them, witch provided warm light. But that wasn’t renderable and basically I didn’t have the knowledge to make that work at the time. So I kept it with the direct and sky light….. But maybe I’ll try. Just for the hell of it.

Silverwing: Thank’s

I'll try to improve it. When I have some time.
